Here’s an educational screenprinting video about how to reuse your wooden squeegee handles with new squeegee blades. In this tutorial video I show you how to use the screws and bolts to secure the squeegee in the wood handle. I’m not exactly sure what these screw and bolts are called but I call them machine bolts. If you bring an image into the hardware store or describe them well you should be able to find these with some help. This video will show you how to use these screws with a drill and make all your wooden squeegee handles reusable.

I’m very happy to announce that Catspit Productions, LLC has opened a storefront in Phoenix, Arizona. I enjoyed working from home very much and it was the best. However our viewers and customers wanted more from me and after years of requests I decided to open the store to serve people better. I was only able to do so much from home. I finally was able to get the storefront open and I am running full time hours there already. As we set up the new storefront and screen printing equipment and supply store in Phoenix Arizona we have the opportunity to do things a little differently. With the bigger space and high ceilings we have a swamp cooler and air conditioner in the shop area. That larger space enables a separation of cool air and hot air so venting the dryer removes heat and fumes from the printing area. This is beneficial to the health and comfort of your employees. With proper ventilation and in duct fans you can vent plastisol ink fumes as well as the shirt dye fumes out of the work space. It should also keep a much lower temperature in the shop by venting heat out with the fumes. In this educational screen printing video I show you my venting and duct work complete with in duct variable speed fan. This video should help you get a good idea of what it will take to vent your screenprinting belt or conveyor dryers for printing tee shirts. Enjoy the video!

Here’s an educational screenprinting video about making squeegees with 6 foot wooden handles and 6 foot rolls of squeegee. A few years ago I showed you how to make squeegees by cutting the wood handle and squeegee bade individually and then gluing them together. In this tutorial video I show you how we do it bulk style with the 6 foot handle and squeegee cut as one long piece. Here we glue in the squeegee blade into the wood handle and allow them to dry. Then we cut the entire piece into the smaller squeegees that we need for the Phoenix storefront. Where else do you get an inside look at how it’s done commercially? Okay, so originally I forgot I had shown you this little device in a previous video. I mention in video that I did not have it on hand the last time I talked about it but I forgot…. LOL. I actually did show it to you and I did demonstrate it a bit in a previous video where we talked about clearing out your stencil after washing out the screen. But I really wanted to feature it alone and I did need a better product video for the ecommerce site hence this revisit of the Saati Magi Vac Nozzle. I love this little device and I’m happy to have it in stock now and in use at the Catspit shop. I used to use low air pressure a lot but this vacuum nozzle will make things much easier while preventing accidental damage to the stencil from excessive air pressure and water soaked emulsion. So this video is a much better look at the product with a more detailed demonstration with close up shots. I hope those of you who did see the video featuring this product previously won’t find it too redundant. This educational screen printing video features a product review for the Tekmar Exhaustex 1500 table top spot cleaning station. This little device consists of 2 items that make up a table top spot cleaning station. Here you’ll see it with the Tekmar Target TG125 spot cleaning gun. We use the spot cleaning gun to remove cured and semi cured plastisol inks. You will want to make sure the ink is cured before attempting to use this product. Okay I finally got this video done. I had to shoot the washing out of the screens twice because I forgot to set up the close up camera. LOL… can you notice the defect in the screen on one of the close up shots? Well… enjoy!

This is the long awaited LED exposure unit video in which we make 2 different screen exposures using the new Ranar LED XPO2331 vacuum top exposure unit. LED exposure units are the latest technology in screen making for screen printing textiles and other substrates. These units may be multiple bulb light sources technically but the little LED bulbs are focused and they emit UV light at about 400 nanometers wavelength. This is exactly what the emulsion wants to see and it will cure the emulsion very well from the substrate side to the inkwell side. The quality of light is such that it cures all emulsion types with ease. It should eliminate or drastically reduce emulsion scum and filming of underexposed emulsion on the inkwell side. Check out this video and follow along as I expose 2 screens with you and take close up looks at the stencils we create. If you’re looking into getting a point source exposure unit or even an industrial black lamp unit you should seriously take a look at the new LED exposure unit made by Ranar and sold through Catspit Productions.
